Birth Doula Support
Your birth experience is one that will stay with you for your lifetime. As a birth doula, our job is to provide you with information and education to help you make informed decisions about your pregnancy and birth. We're here to help you and your support team physically and emotionally leading up to, during, and immediately following the birth.
A Birth Doula:
Offers education, as well as emotional and physical support
Offers continuous support during labor and birth
Educates and assists the primary support team (partner included)
Offers postpartum follow-up and breastfeeding initiation
A Birth Doula does not:
Speak on behalf of the birthing family
Tell the birthing parent what they should or should not do
Replace the partner/support people
Offer any medical/clinical advice or support
"Sarai was incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and kind throughout our pregnancy journey and labor/delivery. Having an advocate during labor took so much pressure off my husband and I, and allowed us to focus on bringing our daughter into the world the way we had envisioned. We couldn't have done it without her!"
Postpartum Doula Support
Welcoming a new baby into your life can be both joyful and overwhelming. Navigating the world of sleep deprivation, infant feeding, baby gear, and all the changes that a baby brings often requires some extra support. As a Postpartum Doula, our primary job is to create an environment where all you have to worry about is bonding with your new baby. We're here to give you a hand when you need it the most and provide you with the confidence to parent your baby in the way that best suits you.
A Postpartum Doula:
Helps ease the transition into parenting
Offers physical and emotional support to the family during the first three months of a newborn’s life (longer if needed)
Assists with breastfeeding
Helps parents and siblings adjust to their new roles
Helps with light household tasks
Can hold baby or entertain siblings while parents rest/shower
Offers evidenced based information, and access to a resource library of reputable material
Connects you with resources in the community
A Postpartum Doula does not:
Tell you how to parent
Diagnose medical concerns in baby or parent
Nanny for you
Replace your primary support system
"I had an amazing experience with Suncoast Doula, and I can't thank Ashley enough for her exceptional support during this special time of our lives. She truly went above and beyond to help us with our new baby and family. Ashley's expertise and caring nature made us feel confident and comfortable throughout the entire process. We couldn't have asked for a better doula, and we highly recommend Suncoast Doula for their outstanding service."
Both Ashley and Sarai are trained to help with basic support such as positions, latching techniques, pumps, emotional support, and education. However, sometimes a mother may need additional help.
Ashley is a CLC (certified lactation counselor). A CLC is a professional who has completed specialized training and certification to provide support and guidance to mothers who are breastfeeding. They can assist with a variety of issues related to breastfeeding such as latching problems, milk supply, nipple pain, breastfeeding positions, and more. A CLC is trained to work with infants and their parents to solve any feeding challenges they are experiencing and improve the parent's chances of breastfeeding for as long as they choose.
You can make an appointment with Ashley while you are still pregnant, right after you give birth, or any stretch of your breastfeeding journey.
Call/Text (502) 751-8770 to make an appointment.
Ashley is currently taking in-person, Sarasota appointments only. $50/hr
DONA International stands strong behind their vision “a doula for every person who wants one” and we couldn’t agree more! If the cost associated with our support is not within your budget, please let us know so we can discuss payment plans, insurance options, discounts, or referrals to doulas who offer reduced/free services.
We hope to be the support your family needs through birth and postpartum care.
